Ruidoso has its share of annual festivals, all of which are characterized by celebratory fun. There is something for everyone, here, from live music to holiday cheer. Be sure and check our the events calendar and Ruidoso’s many other annual events, too!

MAY

smokey bearSmokey Bear Days

May 5-6, 2017 –– Smokey Bear Days started in 2004 to celebrate Smokey’s 60th birthday, Smokey Bear Days has become an annual 2-day event held the first Friday and Saturday of May. The Smokey Bear Days’ mission is to promote the fire prevention message and educate visitors to the Capitan area about the dangers of unwanted, human-caused wildfires.

 

Two Rivers All Handcrafted Arts and Crafts Festival

May 27-29, 2017 — The organizers are excited to be celebrating the 3rd year of the All Handcrafted Art shows. Due to the overwhelming response from artists wanting to participate and customers coming to visit us, we are moving to Wingfield Park which is a much larger park. It also has the convenience of one stop shopping. You can park and walk over to our show and then check out our downtown merchants. There are plenty of places to park and also the Village is creating additional parking for the downtown area. The village is making lots of new improvements to Wingfield Park. A new playground has been added and there is a nice walking path. We will be setup around the path so that we can be accessible to the handicap. It is free to the public so please come visit us and check out the wonderful artists showcasing their work.

May 26-28, 2017 — Get amped for the 3rd Annual Wind Rider Music Festival at Ski Apache. In addition to live music, the one-day festival will also feature food and beverage booths and vendors. Overnight camping will also be available, as well as RV spaces. Those interested can pick up a camping passes at the ticket window (Campsites $10, RV Site $20, free parking). Fire restrictions will be in effect. Children 5 and under are free with a paying adult. Campsites are $10 per tent in each site.

 

JUNE

Bad Ass Mountain Music Festival (BAMM)

June 16-17, 2017 — Escape to the cool altitude of nearby Cloudcroft, New Mexico for the annual Bad Ass Mountain Music Festival! This year’s line-up includes a range of bands and musicians, including Casual Fridays, Secret Circus, Delaney Davis, and Merican Slang. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the event. Camping is available (FREE), and food and beverage vendors will be on the premises.

JULY

July 21-23, 2017  —  Over 100 of the nation’s most talented artists will be set up at the Ruidoso Convention Center showcasing a broad spectrum of mediums including sculpture, photography, glass, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, mixed media and more! The annual festival will be held July 21 and 22 noon-6 pm, and July 23, 10 am-5 pm.

OCTOBER

Aspenfest

October 7-8, 2017 — Rod Run and Car Show, Arts and Crafts Fair, Parade! Aspenfest kicks off with a parade through Midtown Ruidoso, followed by an arts and crafts fair, a rod run and car show and the New Mexico State Open Chili Cook-Off.

October 7, 2017 — During Aspenfest weekend enjoy some of the best chili around at the Open Chili Cook-off. The chili cook-off is open for public tasting beginning at noon.

October 20-21, 2017  —  Based on the German Oktoberfest, Ruidoso celebrates with great food, beer, music, arts and crafts and a kinderhall. “Dressing for the occasion” is encouraged! Tickets: Adults $10.00 for One Day or $18.00 for Two Days. Young Adults 13 – 18 $6.00 for One Day $10.00 for Two Days. Children under 12 FREE

 

DECEMBER

December 2, 2017 —  Beautifully lit and fantastically festive, the Festival of Lights-Parade of Lights starts at 5:30pm from the corner of Sudderth/Mechem, through dowdown to the Chamber of Commerce. Everyone is encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. So, bring out the family for an evening of twinkling lights, hot chocolate and togetherness in the Winter Wonderland of Ruidoso.
