The Ruidoso Art Festival

A 40-Plus Year Tradition: The Ruidoso Art Festival

Don’t let the title “The Ruidoso Art Festival” lead you into believing it’s only about one creative process – art. Yes, it involves numerous forms of aesthetic creativity by artists from around the U.S. but it is also comprised of so much more – like enjoyable cuisine and family fun. And this year, for the first time, four New Mexico wineries will be on hand for your sampling pleasures. That is why this year’s 46th art festival will be properly titled “The Ruidoso Art and Wine Festival.”

Wine and Beverages

You say wine is not your libational choice! Let your heart not be troubled. Sierra Blanca Brewery will be in attendance with many of their excellent varieties of craft beers. All of the aforementioned segments are brought to you by the herculean efforts of the Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce and will be presented at the Ruidoso Convention Center at 111 Sierra Blanca Drive from July 21 through the 23rd. Show times are: Friday, Noon-6pm, Saturday, 10am-6pm and Sunday, 11am-5pm.

Art

This year at the Ruidoso Art Festival, more than 100 accomplished artists will provide original forms of craftsmanship for your enjoyment. The collective works of art will include acrylics/oils, pastels (pencil, pen and ink), photography, and fabric (leather and weaving). Also available will be glass work, jewelry, porcelain, and pottery. In addition, the festival also features  sculptures, water colors, woodwork, metal work and mixed media pieces.

“There will be differing forms of art and styles shown with a variety of prices, which will compliment contrasting lifestyles, tastes and budgets,” Director of Membership Deborah Douds explained. “We always have fantastic artists at the show.”

First held in 1971 as an outdoor tent show, this annual exhibition has become a memorable Ruidoso tradition over the years and has attracted thousands of aficionados. The Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce somehow meets all expectations each and every year.
