A grumpy, solitude-loving ogre named Shrek finds his swamp overrun by fairytale creatures banished by the evil Lord Farquaad. To reclaim his land, Shrek strikes a deal with Farquaad to rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona from a dragon-guarded castle, reluctantly accompanied by a fast-talking Donkey.
